“Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.” – Environmentalist (and Grateful Dead leader) Jerry Garcia

Climate change, though measured with hard science, has become so ideologically divisive that environmental advocates found themselves against a wall. How could progress be made if skeptics wouldn’t even listen? The solution, it turns out, might be as simple as reframing the conversation. Hear from experts who are using fresh communications tactics to discuss the future of the planet – and, in doing so, building consensus with unlikely new allies.

Independent Sector has invited Xavier Cortada to serve as a panelist during their 2015 National Conference in Miami.  The  “Melting Skepticism Instead of Ice Caps” session which is scheduled to take place Wednesday, October 28, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the InterContinental Hotel in Miami.

The session description is as follows:

Climate change, though measured with hard science, has become so ideologically divisive that environmental advocates found themselves against a wall. How could progress be made if skeptics wouldn’t even listen? The solution, it turns out, might be as simple as reframing the conversation. Hear from experts who are using fresh communications tactics to discuss the future of the planet – and, in doing so, building consensus with unlikely new allies. We would like the session to be “about” climate change, but applicable more broadly to any kind of ideologically divisive issue.
